Meet The Staff

This is Beverly Grzeskowiak, our Director of Care.

Beverly has been in the health care field for 8 years working in community agencies, nursing homes, and retirement residences. Her experience in palliative care, rehabilitation, long-term and geriatrics has brought us a well-rounded approach to caring for people with many differing needs. She is a life-long learner dedicated to her field and enjoys teaching and leading other caregivers, nurses and residents. Beverly leads the team of Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Health Care Workers.

Care is a very important part of what we do at Carrington. Our nurses attend to the needs of our seniors, working closely with family and the physician to ensure continued well being and independence. Our commitment to care is outlined in our Care Mandate. "Carrington Place Cares" is evident by the exceptional standard of care provided by our Director of Care and certified staff.

Our Administrator, Bruce A. Histed, RN, MA

Bruce came to The Carrington this year after many years in various hospital clinical, teaching and management positions here in Hamilton, as well as in Toronto and Los Angeles. His experiences include mental health and critical care nursing, teaching at both Mohawk and Humber colleges and McMaster University, and most recently, operating his home-based editing and writing business.
Bruce's objective at Carrington Place is to see that our residents receive the best personal care from his Management Team and the dedicated staff in all our departments.

Maureen Brandt is our Receptionist

The first person that visitors see, Maureen has been employed at Carrington Place for 11 years and thoroughly enjoys her role greeting everyone to our home, as well as assisting residents, visitors and staff with any questions they may have - or even just to smile and to say "Good morning!"

Paula Kamula is our Community Relations Director and Marketing Manager

Mainly responsible for the rental and organization of Carrington's accommodations, Paula is also an invaluable source of information and assistance to everyone concerning the in's and out's of Carrington's facilities and operations.

Paula has lived and worked in the Ancaster area for more than 20 years. She worked for the Royal Bank for 12 years as a personal lender and has been a very active volunteer in the community for many years ranging from co-op nursery school to many positions with her children's school and supervising a junior girl's golf program with the Hamilton Golf and Country Club. She came to Carrington Place as a part time receptionist and activity director.

Paula has been our Community Relations Director for the past 2 years and her duties include marketing and tours for any prospective new residents and their families, assisting with the move in process and helping to make the transition for the resident and their families as smooth as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact her for any information or tour bookings as she would be pleased to assist you.

We are pleased to introduce Alissa Milani, our Activity Director.

Alissa has 18 years experience in the health care field working in a hospital setting,  a community agency, group home settings, high behavioural homes, a not-for-profit government agency, and as a private rehabilitative consultant. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology which focused on behavioural and cognitive psychology, biology and human physiology. Alissa also has some gerontology and neuropyschology courses under her belt. She comes to Carrington Place with 11 years experience in the development, planning and implementation of diversified individual and group therapeutic/recreational programs.

Stephanie Hartman, our Dietary Supervisor

In addition to several years cooking experience, our Dietary Supervisor, Stephanie Hartman, is a graduate of the Food Service Nutrition Management program. This is a highly regarded diploma course, given by the Canadian Healthcare Association of Ottawa. Membership to the CSNM ( Canadian Society of Nutrition Management ) requires such a diploma. Stephanie takes great pride in belonging to the CSNM, and her work reflects the Societies standards for excellence. Our skilled cooks prepare home-style meals to be served in an elegant dining room. The menu offers a variety of choices with a focus on fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and made from scratch entrees and desserts. Residents' input is important to us, and they are encouraged to make suggestions regarding the menu. Individuals with special dietary requirements are easily accommodated. Every effort is made to tailor the menu to the likes, dislikes and nutritional requirements of each resident.
